Bali is a hiker's paradise, with spectacular rice fields and beautiful rainforests, as well as plantations and communities. Although this narrow and densely populated island does not lend itself to great hiking days, the variety of day treks and weekend climbs will keep you busy.

In most cases, the most challenging peaks and volcanoes in Western Bali National Park require a guide, although in most cases, you may reach and explore the farthest locations on your own. Food is rarely a problem in much of Bali, with the exception of the interior of the "Wild West," because all settlements are welcome, kind, and quite populous.

Mt. Batur at Sunrise

The most popular hike in Bali is Mount Batur. That's for a variety of reasons. View the sunrise from a high point of 1717 meters (5630 feet) across the caldera lake, beyond Mount Agung, the country's highest peak, to Mount Rinjani, which is out of breath for air on the distant Lombok island. It will appeal to you if you are surrounded by 100 individuals. If you begin hiking at 3 a.m., you must reach the summit before daybreak. The majority of travelers arrange this as a tour from Ubud, which is easily accessible despite early departures (typically between 1am and 2am depending on accommodation) and is priced competitively. It is kept at a reasonable price. For daily trekking in Batur, both Bali's Sunrise Trekking and Tour and India Global Adventure are reputable and well-known providers. Mason Adventures also provides a helicopter ride over Batur to see the sights.

It is feasible to complete this walk on your own (as long as you don't get lost), but keep in mind that income is an essential source of cash for local community leaders. Please don't do that. Tours typically end at 9 a.m. and should feel like a filling and nutritious Balinese breakfast. Bring water and an extra layer; this is likely to be the coolest spot in Bali!

The west bali national park

Bali is "overdeveloped." Make arrangements for everything from a two-hour walk to a full-fledged jungle trip into the wilderness where tigers previously roamed at Taman Nasional Bali Barat (Western Bali National Park) (and are rumored to still exist). It is possible.

There could be more than a herd of Sunda deer on the Purapat Agung Peninsula, in addition to ordinary macaques and rare ebony marmosets. The Prapat Agung Peninsula (the park's most popular attraction) has a low risk of getting lost, although hiking paths in West Bali National Park require a permit and a guide. The park office is located near the settlement of Sambar Keronpok, north of Gilimanuk, at the park entrance of Prapat Agung. They prepare for cool conditions and more visible wildlife by arriving in the afternoon and departing around daybreak the next morning.

Prices for guidebooks vary (and in some cases, dramatically) and are likely to fall in the future. Many of the gigantic squirrels (bigger than domestic cats), giant monitor lizards, and an estimated 280 species of birds may be found in Bali with the guidance of a knowledgeable guide. Experienced and knowledgeable guides are not just a wise investment in terms of park safety (especially near the park's most dangerous peaks and volcanoes), but even a short hike may be a life-changing event. It must be replaced with

Waterfall of Sekumpul

The spectacular Sekumpul Waterfall is located far enough away from the private roads to prevent many visitors from flocking to more accessible waterfalls such as Gitgit, Banumara, and Jembon. Sekumpul is actually a series of up to seven waterfalls that combine at this spot, dropping a total of around 80 meters (262 feet) into a fern-covered pool. "Convergence" is the meaning of the name. There aren't many hikes in Bali, but this one is a terrific way to cool off in one of the island's most beautiful areas. Hidden Waterfalls and Fijian Waterfalls are two lesser-known waterfalls easily accessible along the Sekumpul Trail.

The admission price can be paid at a ticket booth located in the parking lot. There is a three-tiered pricing structure in place. Sekunpur waterfall is only visible from a distance and costs IDR 20,000 per person (about US $1.40). The $9 "Medium Trekking" ticket includes guides, donations to surrounding villages, a swim at the base of the waterfall, and entry to a nearby secret waterfall. The "Long Trekking" ticket ($14) is essentially the same and gives you access to Fiji's waterfalls; however, they are not as impressive as the others.

The Overnight Peak of Batu Karu

Batukaru, Bali's second highest mountain at 2276 meters (7467 feet), is also one of the island's least-moving mountains. There are two routes that follow each other, although neither has many footprints and both can become too large during the wet season (October-February). Most trekkers start on the south side of Batukaru Temple, but the northwestern trailhead, at an altitude of around 1000 m (3280 ft), is even more remote.

If you are physically fit, you can reach the summit in less than four hours. As a result, if you start early in the morning, you may complete the ascent and descent in one day. Plan to camp at the top for more adventure. Because the summit might be frozen, bring a tent and sleeping bag.Bring a lot of water because the stream isn't always reliable. Batukaru is a beautiful burr that is in excellent shape.

Mount Agung in Indonesia

Since the 2018 eruption, the peak of Mt. Agung, as well as up to 12 km (7.5 miles) of its environs, have been off-limits. Agung is now closed to the public, although it may reopen shortly. It's safe to suppose that when it does, hikers will be lined up once more to climb Indonesia's most famous volcano. It's easy to picture yourself on top of the globe and (as Balinese Hindus believe) in the domain of the gods when you sit high above the clouds at 3031m (9944ft) above sea level on the peak. Even when majestic Agung is generally "calm," it's a good idea to seek the most up-to-date information on conditions and employ an experienced and informed guide. Agung is not for the faint of heart. The climb to the peak normally takes 6-7 hours, and the descent is relatively quick.

TwinLakes Munduks

Beautiful routes connect Danau Tambringan and Danau Buyan, two high-altitude lakes, via shady high-altitude trees and along beautiful lakeside trails. We rarely meet other hikers in this seldom visited location, but in recent years, the stunning backdrop of the reflecting mountain peaks has been captured not only by the photographic landscape, but also by its accessibility, making it a wedding photographer's dream. It is well-liked.

Allow time to see several beautiful temples, such as the stunning Praulundanautambringan. Bring a salon and dress appropriately when visiting the temple. Hiking is just one way if you have a driver. Parking is accessible on both sides of the lakes, so you may pick up where you left off.

Campuhan RidgeWalk

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is surprisingly diverse for such a short walk, with lovely rice fields, fruit trees, jungle valleys, and even temples (Pura Gunung Lebah). However, because there is minimal shelter on the top of the hill, this trek can be scorching. Despite its designation as a ridge trail, this hike is a lovely and serene stroll that is not too strenuous for small children.

Even during the rainy season, when the terraces and jungle trails around Ubud are wetlands, the route is paved and not smooth enough for wheelchairs and strollers. There are also beautiful cafés and warungs (local restaurants) at the bottom of the ridge, so youngsters can finally be motivated by the promise of a healthy smoothie. If you are staying in the heart of Ubud, you do not need transportation to get to the starting site near the Kamphan Bridge. Ubud Market is less than 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) away. As an added benefit, locals in Ubud like this stroll, so it's a great opportunity to meet more of these wonderful Balinese people.
